Covid outbreaks have emotionally and physically drained everyone. But on monday the Prime Minister of Australia has announced the reopening of Australia borders from 21 February 2022 to all fully vaccinated visa holders ending some of the largest and strict pandemic travel bans. The borders have been progressively opened from November itself but groups including, bridging visa holders, some immediate travelers and visitors were still exteemped free traveling.

PM Morrison said “ it's almost 2 years since we took the decision to close the borders of Australia due to the pandemic but it's time we welcome all the fully vaccinated visa holders to Australia.” he also added the improvement of health conditions and a recent 23 percent decline in hospitalization due to covid. The National Security Committee of Cabinet (NSCC) has agreed that Australia is now ready to open the borders for international visitors.

The tourism industry has welcomed this news. Tourism and Transport forum Chief Executive Jennifer Westacott was thrilled and said “ it's a big move and it brings to an end fortress Australia.”
